| | | Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin is the advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, the state's largest and most trusted reproductive health care provider. PPAWI educates and lobbies on behalf of reproductive rights and works to elect candidates who support family planning and a woman's right to choose. |
|
 | | Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin deeply believes that all individuals should have the information and means to decide the number and spacing of their children; and that all women, men and teens should have access to basic prevention health care. PPAWI engages in legislative and educational activity and works to elect candidates to state and federal offices that support these goals. |

 | Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin provides outreach to the public about issues relating to reproductive health and mobilizes individuals and communities to make their voices heard in the political process. Specifically, PPAWI focuses on mobilizing traditionally underrepresented communities like people of color, youth and Planned Parenthood of WI's patient base.
As part of PPAWI's legislative advocacy, we communicate regularly with over 246,000 supporters, activists and donors statewide. Our communications during the 2009-10 Legislative Session included:
Mail pieces to 177,677 supporters Almost 12,000 phone calls to supporters through our ongoing phone bank program Over 578,000 emails to supporters through the online action network
As a result of this statewide outreach, this legislative session PPAWI passed three crucial policy initiatives: Contraceptive Equity, which requires insurance companies that provide prescription drug benefits plans to cover birth control; Prescription Protection, which ensures that pharmacies always have someone on staff to dispense birth control without harassment or delay; and the Healthy Youth Act, which ensures sex education taught in Wisconsin public schools is medically accurate, age-appropriate and comprehensive. These victories make the 2009-10 Legislative Session the most successful one for reproductive health advocates in the history of the Wisconsin Legislature.
As part of PPAWI's election program, during the 2008 election cycle we engaged in both federal and state races, making over 1.1 million voter contacts.
As a result of PPAWI's strategic election program, PPAWI's targeted supporters turned out to vote at a rate that was 18% higher than the general voting public in Wisconsin. |
