Planned Parenthood Patients Share Their Stories

Lori's Story

"One day, I was having these horrible pains in my lower abdomen, and I called my doctor at Planned Parenthood. I found out I had tumors and cysts in my ovaries, and that it was a health emergency. They were able to save half an ovary, and that was enough, because I was able to have children." – Lori, PPWI patient

Christy's Story

"I wasn't sick. I had no symptoms that there was something wrong with me. If I hadn't been a patient of Planned Parenthood, I would not have known that I had cervical cancer until I was sick - and I probably would have died." – Christy, PPWI patient

Gina's Story

“As an underinsured college student, I went to a Planned Parenthood location near my hometown for a yearly exam and the test results came back that I had pre-cancerous cells in my cervix. If I wasn’t able to be seen by Planned Parenthood, or have that option available to me, it could’ve gone very badly. Planned Parenthood helped me to be a mother.” - Gina, PPWI patient

Courtney's Story

"Getting cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood is really important. I do have a family history. So my aunt had ovarian cancer. She is actually no longer with us, which makes it even more important to me to continue to get those check-ups." - Courntey, PPWI Patient
