2011-13 Wisconsin State Budget - Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin

2011-2013 WISCONSIN STATE BUDGET (ACT 32)

Passed Assembly 60-38 on 6/14/11
Passed Senate 19-14 on 6/16/11
Signed by Gov. Walker on 6/26/11

The Republicans in the Legislature voted for Governor Walker's budget which decimates women's health in Wisconsin:
  • Eliminates all state funding for Planned Parenthood health centers in Wisconsin.
  • Eliminates access to lifesaving cancer screenings, HIV testing, birth control, and annual exams for tens of thousands of Wisconsin patients.
  • Puts the entire BadgerCare Family Planning program, its 60,000 patients, and $140 million in annual state savings at risk.
  • Cuts $500 million from Medicaid without giving any details.
  • Creates an unprecedented power shift over Medicaid from elected representatives to the governor and his appointees.
  • Restricts access to abortion services in Dane County by preventing UW Hospital from providing abortions.
Budgets are about choices and values. These cuts and restrictions to health care are not Wisconsin values.
