Where we stand
2009-10 Legislative Session
The 2009-10 Wisconsin Legislative Session has truly been histroric for women's health. Together we sent a resounding message that women's health matters, and that we will strongly support the elected officials who stand up for women's health.
Victories for Women's Health:
Contraceptive Equity: Requires insurance plans that cover prescription drugs to also cover prescription contraceptives.
Prescription Protection: Requires pharmacies to dispense birth control without harassment or delay.
Healthy Youth Act: Requires sex education taught in Wisconsin public schools to be medically accurate, age-appropriate and comprehensive.
Expedited Partner Therapy: Reduces the rate of STDs by allowing providers to dispense a second dose of antibiotics for the partner of a patient being treated.
Colposcopy Funding: Provides life-saving diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer for low-income women.
Expanded Family Planning Waiver: Provides family planning and preventive health care to low-income women--and now men.
