MILWAUKEE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is celebrating 80 years of providing health care and education to keep people safe, healthy and strong in our state; and

WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin began in Milwaukee in 1935 with one small clinic run by volunteers and has since grown to be Wisconsin’s largest reproductive healthcare provider; and

WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin provides affordable, quality healthcare to 61,000 people each year in their 22 health centers across the state; and

WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin denies no individual access to their services due to an inability to pay; and

WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin is a leader in women’s health, providing life-saving cancer screenings, annual wellness exams, and comprehensive sexual heath and family planning services; and
 
WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin works with thousands of young adults, teens, parents and community members to provide education services that promote healthy attitudes and behaviors and disease prevention with a focus on eliminating health disparities; and
 
WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin helps to fill a critical void in healthcare and public health education in our community; and

WHEREAS, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin has empowered women and families and improved the quality of life for countless individuals over the last 80 years; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, that the members of the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, on the motion of Supervisor Marcelia Nicholson, along with Supervisors Eddie Cullen, Marina Dimitrijevic, Jason Haas, Willie Johnson, Jr., Michael Mayo, Sr., Supreme Moore Omokunde, David L. Sartori, James “Luigi” Schmitt, Sequanna Taylor, Sheldon A. Wasserman, Peggy A. West, John F. Weishan, Jr. and Chairman Theodore Lipscomb, Sr. do hereby congratulate Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin on its 80th anniversary, recognize them for their service to the community and wish them a future filled with continued success in ensuring our citizens stay safe, healthy and strong.
