THE HEALTHY WOMEN PROGRAM

Protects the health and safety of women by providing 64,000 Wisconsin women with preventive and basic health care, including cancer screenings, annual exams, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, and birth control.

Saves Wisconsin taxpayers $30 million each year by preventing unintended pregnancy and costs related to maternal care.
 

 
All women deserve access to basic and necessary health care.
  • Birth control is basic health care used by 95% of women during their lifetimes and helps prevent unintended pregnancies and reduces the need for abortion.
  • Cervical cancer is preventable, and if caught early has close to a 100% survival rate.
  • Breast cancer affects one in eight women.  A complete early detection plan includes breast examinations by a trained medical professional.
