Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin (PPAWI) is the advocacy arm of
Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, the state’s largest and most trusted
reproductive health care organization.
Planned Parenthood Advocates educates and lobbies on behalf of
reproductive rights and family planning and engages in electoral activities to
support candidates for elected office that will promote access to reproductive
health care, responsible sex education and freedom of choice. We work with supporters, volunteers, the
public, media, and legislators to protect reproductive health and freedom.
Planned
Parenthood Internships:
PPAWI provides exciting volunteer internship opportunities
throughout the year. Internships are
8-12 hours/week, and are available for the semester (Jan-May, May-Aug, Sept-Dec) or year-long.
Internships are unpaid, but college credit can be arranged. This is a great opportunity to
gain on-the-job-skills while doing vitally important work to protect and expand
reproductive health and choice.
Intern
Qualifications:
Prospective
interns should be self-motivated, organized, and enthusiastic individuals who
have a strong commitment to reproductive freedom, including the right to choose
abortion. Interns should also have good communication and writing skills, be
able to meet deadlines, have an interest in electoral, public policy and
non-profit advocacy work, and be willing to learn and perform a multitude of
tasks ranging from volunteer recruitment to phone banks to community and campus
outreach and to basic research.
Internship
Projects Include:

Legislative
advocacy, including contacting your elected officials and attending committee
hearings.
·
Legislative and
issue organizing, including phone calls, literature drops, door-to-door
canvassing, and visibility rallies.
·
Campus/Vox
activities and organizing to educate and inspire college students to advocate
for reproductive freedom.
·
Organizing,
managing, and working with volunteers.
·
Promoting
patient advocacy by providing materials and information to Planned Parenthood
patients.
·
Writing letters to the editors on various current and legislative
issues relating to reproductive rights.
·
Community
outreach through staffing information tables at fairs, events, and local
campuses.
·
Get Out the Vote election activities, including phone banks and
canvassing.
·
Additional
projects such as research, media logs, and event planning, including Planned
Parenthood’s biennial Lobby Day.
