Claire, Oshkosh Activists Recognized as Champions for Women’s Health
Dedicated
volunteers will receive special honor at Women’s Health Day of Action
Madison, WI- Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin (PPAWI) is pleased to
announce that two dedicated groups of activists, the Chippewa
Valley Citizens for Women’s Health and the Citizens for Women's Health of
Winnebago County, will receive the prestigious "Champions for
Women’s Health" award. The award will be presented to both groups at
the 2007 biennial Women's Health Day of Action and Lobby Day, held at the
Monona Terrace in
Both groups diligently and persistently took action
to improve women’s health care in their communities. Over the past year, both groups have made the
following strides in
ü Produced a half-hour television
show about the Compassionate Care for Rape Victims bills for public television
in
ü Held successful community hearings
in
ü Changed emergency room policy at
an
ü Volunteered countless hours
encouraging people to get out to vote on the issues
they care about in their community.
“We felt that it was incredibly important to
recognize the Chippewa Valley Citizens for Women’s Health and the
Citizens for Women’s Health of Winnebago County for their tireless
commitment to enhancing women’s health. Thanks to the efforts of these activist groups, the public has
become more informed and engaged in achieving real change around improving
increased access to health care. That’s why they are true champions for
women’s health,” said PPAWI Vice President of Public Affairs Lisa
Boyce.
The awards ceremony will be held during the lunch
hour at the Women’s Health Day of Action and Lobby Day on March 8.
